A Swansea woman has been arrested for attempting to murder a mother and child.

Shamara Janaye Greene, 20, is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime, stalking, discharging a firearm into a vehicle, and two counts of attempted murder, according to a release.

“Based on information gathered by detectives, when the victim and their child were returning to their home in the 100 block of Culler Road, they saw Greene waiting for them in the driveway,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in a release. “The victim drove away but Greene followed them and shot at the car. No one was injured.”

According to a provided incident report, the victim, who remains unidentified, approached her residence on March 9 around 7:30 a.m. to find Greene outside. The victim proceeded to back out of their driveway, Greene followed before exiting her vehicle and firing between two and four shots at the victims car then fleeing the scene. No physical projectiles were found on the premises.

A provided arrest warrant states that neighbors saw Greene waiting for the victim to return.

Deputies found Greene shortly after at another residence in Swansea, according to the release.

Per the warrant, the victim reported a similar incident on March 8 in Calhoun County, saying that Greene fired a handgun at her, and following this incident, Greene sent threatening phone calls and text messages to the victim.

These threats were sent through Facebook Messenger and included threats to kill the victim and her child, screenshots were taken as evidence, according to the incident report.

Greene was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center following her arrest.
