Teaching students about gardening

Walter P Rawl & Sons has generously supported the Lexington 1 Educational Foundation for 8 years.

This provides support for schools to create and maintain school gardens.

Gardens enhance students’ knowledge of diet and nutrition. The grants total $1,726 and Pelion Elementary was one of 5 recipients.

An original art and indoor yard sale will be Oct. 16 at the Pelion Community Center, 951 Pine Street from 10 am to 5 pm.

Pelion Town Council voted Sept. 22 to v match a Hometown Economic Grant to refurbish the old train station.

Convent Baptist Homecoming will be Oct. 10 at 10:30 am with lunch after the service.

MORNING winners of the Princess Peanut Contest are Cheyenne Cooper, Olilva Hobbs, Asnlee Ratliff, Myla Long, Linley Brown, Daisey Stoudemire, and Micah Long. Evening winners are Bradley Lovell, Adaline Hobbs, Bailey Cooper, Emily Coleman, Giavanna Lyerly, Harley Williamson, Hensley Carroll, Alexis Moore, and Dakota Jordan. The scholarshiop winner was Reagan Rudd. Happy birthday to Gail Corley and Sadie
