The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department graduated its most recent Citizens Academy class Oct. 28.
The Citizens Academy program is designed to acquaint the residents of Lexington County with the goals, objectives, organizational structure and general operating procedures of the Sheriff’s Department and to promote good will, mutual understanding and community support.
The program consists of 9 sessions, with a total of 27 hours of training. Participants must be at least 18 and have a clean criminal record. The class also includes a mandatory deputy ride-along and detention center shadowing.
