Get a jump start on your family Christmas activities by attending the live drivethrough Nativity at First Baptist Church in Gilbert. This is a free event where you can experience the events and town where Christ was born. The sequence will include the prophecy of Christ’s coming and His birth in the manager. This is a family-oriented event and will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. For details call 803-892-3699.

SUNDAY AFTER Thanksgiving has always been set aside for volunteers to place Christmas lights in the Gilbert Community Park. This event was cancelled due to the corona-virus and the park being closed. Recently we were told a decision was made to place the lights in the park. Volunteers are now needed on Sunday Dec. 6 at 2 pm to help with the Christmas lights.

HOPE BINKLEY thanks everyone who supported the recent Blessing Box fundraiser. Binkley said the many donations will keep the Blessing Boxes filled for weeks. She also wants to thank those who helped with the donations for Thanksgiving meals. She said those donations helped to provide meals for 6 local families.

CHEROKEE PRESBYTERIAN Church in Gilbert is now taking applications for their Home Repair Workcamp. This workcamp provides free home repairs for qualified residents in Gilbert, Batesburg-Leesville, Red Bank, Pelion and Lexington. These free repairs will include simple home repairs. Applications are due by Feb. 1, 2021. For details call the church at 803-892-6740.
