A 17-year-old Chapin High School student has been charged with threatening students.
A Lexington County deputy interviewed the male student, at the school Dec. 10. His name will not be released because he’s under 18.
Several students reported to administration that the suspect threatened to shoot up the school, burn it down and then “curb stomp” a female student, reports show.
The suspect told police he was upset because someone took $10-$15 from his bag during lunch.
Reports also show the male student admitted to punching a window.
The student was charged with school threats and released to the custody of his grandfather.
He will appear in Lexington County Family Court at a later date.
The Chronicle has asked all 5 Lexington County school districts and the solicitor’s office for updates on at least 24 school threat cases since Aug. 21.
We will provide that information as it is made available.
