The WNBA All-Star game will not be light on Gamecocks.
Three former University of South Carolina women’s basketball players earned an invitation to the 2026 WNBA All-Star festivities in Chicago on July 25.
Reigning WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson earned her eighth selection as a member of the Las Vegas Aces. Indiana Fever forward Aliyah Boston got her fourth nod, as did Atlanta Dream guard Allisha Gray.
Wilson and Boston were each named starters, which were determined by a combination of rankings by fans, the media and WNBA players.
Reserves were picked by the league’s 15 head coaches, who each voted for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position, regardless of conference. Coaches were not able to vote for their own players.
Wilson is having an incredible year, leading the WNBA in scoring this season with 25.5 points per game this season. If that holds, it would be the second-highest season scoring average. She is also averaging 9.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Under her guidance, the Aces are (17-7) this season, good for second in the Western Conference. Wilson finished first in the player vote and second in the fan and media vote for frontcourt players.
Boston has been an All-Star every year she’s been in the league. This season, she is averaging a career-high 17.3 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.
The 2023 No. 1 overall pick has led the Fever to a (14-9) record for first in the Eastern Conference.
Boston was the top vote-getter in the frontcourt by the fans. She finished fifth in the media vote and eighth in the player vote.
Gray just missed out on being selected as a starter. The top four guards earned a spot, and Gray finished with the sixth-best score at the position.
When the reserves were announced the following week, Gray was one of the first players revealed.
All of Gray’s All-Star selections have come since joining the Atlanta Dream in 2023. She has gotten better each year as her career has gone on, earning her first All-WNBA selection last season.
This season, Gray is averaging a career-best 18.8 points per game on 44% shooting. Her play has the Dream playing good ball, with a (13-10) record, good for second in the Eastern Conference.
