Touch-a-Truck at Lexington High School introduced children to local organizations

Posted

The threat of rain did not stop many parents from bringing their children to the Touch-a-Truck event at Lexington High School on Aug. 2.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department sponsored this. Children enjoyed many free items at the event. The sheriff's department gave out doughnuts and toys for the children. Other vendors included: Starbucks, W.P. Rawl, State Farm Insurance and more.

Children got to sit inside many trucks and bulldozers. Jamil Shrine Choo Choos brought their train and pulled children around the parking lot. There was a therapy dog for the children to pet. Also, Lena, the large helicopter, was there on display. She was used in Afghanistan on several missions.

The children enjoyed their morning meeting with Lexington County officers and other volunteers at the event.
