Last month, Lexington Town Councilman Gavin J. Smith launched a summer coloring contest for local children, with each page featuring a different location around town.

Smith recently announced the contest has been extended to Aug. 29 at noon.

“The response has been amazing so far, and I want to give even more families the chance to take part,” Smith said in a post.

Every child who participates will be entered to win a $25 Big Air gift card, donated by Big Air of Lexington.

To enter the contest, print and color any page from the book, then take a photo with the artwork. A parent or guardian can post it in the comments of his Facebook post about the coloring book, or email the photo to gsmith@lexsc.gov.

Participants can download the coloring book online here.

Four winners will be selected at random and announced on Smith’s Facebook and Instagram accounts.

“I believe it’s on us as elected officials to meet people where they’re at — finding creative ways to engage our community and get more people involved. This contest is just one way I’m working to do that,” Smith said.
