UofSC Student Ambassadors visit Sandhills Middle School

Posted

Mrs. Jhoanna Ruiz Garcia teaches Spanish at Sandhills Middle School. She recently invited University of South Carolina student ambassadors from Bangladesh, China, and Taiwan to share information about their countries and cultures.

The program is called USC THINKING GLOBALLY. Students engaged with the ambassadors, asking a variety of questions and learning about foods, traditions, activities, history, and other areas that may differ from our country. It was a productive and engaging experience for all involved.

Ms. Ruiz Garcia is one of several teachers in Lexington Four employed through Foreign Academic & Cultural Exchange Services (FACES). FACES recruits qualified educators from around the world to teach in the USA, specifically in South Carolina Public Schools. Subject areas include; special education, foreign languages (Spanish, French, German, Latin), mathematics, general elementary, chemistry, physics, biology, art and music. FACES is based in Columbia, South Carolina. These teachers provide enriching experiences and expansion of world views for students and staff.
