Are you registered for your covid-19 vaccination? This virus continues to be a concern for most of us.

Last week I felt so fortunate to receive the 1st dose. I commend Lexington Medical Center for their wellplanned and organized vaccination center.

Medical Building #1 provided an easy access with available parking in front. It was easy in and out for a shot bringing hope and security. If and when you are eligible, don’t hesitate to sign up!

How my son-in-law takes time to repair things in my 18 year-old house?

How a tall stranger in a food store grabs an item from a top shelf you can’t reach?

OUR LEXINGTON Chamber of Commerce is a vital part of our community. Their January Breakfast last Tuesday at the Radius Church complex was catered by John Aun of Eggs Up Grill, Chamber Chair Angela Klosterman called the meeting to order. Delivering the invocation and leading the Pledge of Allegiance was Pastor Ross Kellis of Lexington Church of Christ. Chamber CEO Angelle LaBorde made introductions. Breakfast sponsor was Wells Fargo represented by Kevin Clary. School District 1 Superintendent Dr. Greg Little announced Lexington’s Teacher of the Year, Dani Stroud, who had sent a video message.

Kaye Shaw, Workforce Advisor for the SC Dept. of Commerce, and Bryce Myers, Director of the Lexington Technology Center, spoke on education and the work force.

Connor Watkins announced the arrival of our new Lexington Visitor’s Guide. It tells you where to go and what’s new.

MISSION LEXINGTON has announced:

• Pisgah Lutheran as Church of the Month. As a founding church of Mission Lexington more than 40 years ago, Pisgah financially supports Mission Lexington, supplies meals during the holidays to the mobile food pantry and the Child Development Center through food and supply drives.

• Chris Allen is Board Member of the Month. He serves as Associate Pastor at NewSpring Church in Columbia which has food drives for Mission Lexington.

• Ellen Lesesne as Volunteer of the Month serves on the pricing team for the Thrift Store. She also hosts neighborhood toy drives at Christmas.

RIVERBANKS ZOO and Garden shared sad news that Lottie the koala, a resident since 2003, has passed away at 19 years old.

ANNE BULL reports that Friends of the Lexington County Museum President Dan Koon and Director JR Fennell announced that the winter 2021 Gala has been cancelled due to covid. The board would like to thank everyone for their past donations and hope that you will continue to support the museum with tax deductible contributions.

CINEFLIX USA HAS announced that Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team will return to film episodes of the hit series American Pickers in March. The documentary series explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on the History channel.

FOOTBALL FANS await the Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7. The playoffs will decide which teams play. Time not yet decided.
