Veterans Memorial flag retired

At the Ruritan meeting, David Mills presented the flag from the Veterans Memorial to Jerry Williams.

Jerry’s son, Col. Gerard B. Williams II was recently inducted into the Palmetto Military Academy Hall of Fame. He currently serves as Chief of Staff at Fort Jackson.

THE RURITANS and American Legion Post 101 support Boys and Girls State each year by sponsoring these young people.

This year, 3 Pelion High students were selected for Boys State and 2 students to attend the virtual meeting of Girls State.

These 5 young people, and their parents attended the Ruritan meeting and each gave a brief summary of what they did and learned.

AMERICAN Legion Service Officer Hawk Betts and Sergeant of Arms John Rebolj were sworn in. Past Commander Mark Bays presented a plaque and ribbon to the post for 100% membership.

Pelion varsity football plays Midland Valley Sept. 3 at 7:30 pm. Varsity volleyball is Sept. 8 at 5 pm at Swansea. Underclassmen pictures take place Sept. 8. Deadline for ordering rings is Sept. 10 at noon.
