Want a guided Fort Congaree tour?

The City of Cayce is offering a Guided Historical Walking Tour of Fort Congaree.

The next tours are July 7 and 21 and Aug. 4, and 18.

The tours start at Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park off of 12th Street Extention, on Congaree Creek. The address of the 12,000 Year History Park is 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce.

Tours are 60-to-90 minutes long, focusing on local history.

National Park trained volunteers Gary and Sue Kelly lead the tour and share stories about the fort’s history. Gary and Sue will show items replicating some of what was used in the period. Tours are interactive, and comments and questions are welcome.

The Civil War Battle of Congaree Creek is included in 2 tours.

Please wear comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and water.

Walk the trail to Ft. Congaree this Saturday, Mar.

23. See artifacts, talk to period-actors, and hear real cannon fire from 10 am - 2 pm at 1120 Fort Congaree Trail, Cayce.
