The City of Cayce is offering a Guided Historical Walking Tour of Fort Congaree. The tours are July 7 and 21, and Aug. 4 and 18. Tours start at Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park, 1120 Fort Congaree Trail. Tours are 60-90 minutes long, focusing on local history. National Park trained volunteer Gary and Sue Kelly lead the tour and share stories about the fort’s history. Gary and Sue will show items replicating some of what was used in the period. Tours are interactive and comments and questions are welcome. The rained-out Civil War Battle of Congaree Creek tour will be scheduled next year. Wear comfortable shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent and bring water. Call (803) 765-2200 or email 12000yearhistorypark@gmail.com for more information.
