Watch out for baby copperheads

Humans interfere with wild creatures’ habitat when we invade with our houses. Yet wild animals still show up at night to roam over land we think belongs to us. I’ve seen foxes, the Amick’s Ferry skunk, chased large rats, heard coyotes, watched hawks circle above the fields looking for prey.

Watch out for baby copperheads in large numbers around the lake. Those itty bitty baby snakes pack a powerful poison.

Free “Fireside Hauntings & Homicides of the Dutch Fork” will be at 7, 8 and 9 pm Friday, Sept. 25, at the Little Mountain Reunion Park for stories of local murders, hauntings, legends and folklore.
