Weather Suspends Blowfish Home Game, But Fireworks Show Goes On

Posted

Lightning and rainfall expedited the planned fireworks and laser lights show Sunday at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.

The near-sellout crowd, however, was unable to witness in its entirety the scheduled game between the Blowfish and Macon Bacon. A second 30-plus minute delay resulted in the contest getting suspended with the Bacon leading 2-0 in the top of the second inning.

A 2-run single with the bases loaded by Jarrod Belbin off starter Robbie Jordan gave Macon the early lead. It marked the fourth consecutive game in which the Blowfish had allowed one or more runs in the second inning during their team-record 10-game losing streak.

No word on a rescheduling date. The two teams are scheduled to meet again on July 6 and 8 in Macon and July 11 in Lexington.

Lexington County will take a break from CPL play with an intrasquad scrimmage for the Fourth of July at home. Fireworks and a Laser Lights Show is once again scheduled to take place.
