On New Year’s Eve 2019. Wayne and I were eating dinner at a Lexington restaurant instead of going to a party. While enjoying our meal we both said we were looking forward to 2020. The economy was doing well and we were hoping for a better year. Within 2 months we would be in a global pandemic.

No one could imagine the impact the corona virus would have. We had to adjust to a different way of life. Social distancing, face masks, lockdowns and quarantines are the new normal. These unfortunate events have been hard. The corona virus affected everyone’s daily life. We hope the vaccines will end the pandemic.

Our Gilbert-Summit community came together to help each other. Hope Binkley said Blessing Boxes are stocked weekly. Food donations for the boxes have fed many.

Binkley said thank you notes are often left in the boxes. Donations of toys, clothing and dinners helped many at Christmas. Our local churches have helped. Angel Tree donations from churches provided Christmas gifts for hundreds of children. Prepared Christmas dinners were given to families in need.

Local groups have helped provide needs to many with fundraisers and donations. Let us all continue to work together to help one another in 2021.
