Whose jobs rose 100% in employment from 2008 to 2018 in South Carolina?

Network administrators.

We had the best 5-year employment rise – 70.5% from 2013 to 2018.

The Comparitech website reported this growth is a reason South Carolina is among the top 5 places for network administrator.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics defines network and computer systems administrators a role that’s critical to the day-to-day operation of computer networks.

They support, organize, and install an organization’s computer systems. This often includes intra-nets, network segments, wide area networks (WANs). It can also involve local area networks (LANs) and other data communication systems.

According Comparitech, there are currently 5,780 SC network administrators.

Another 1,107 network administrator jobs are available with an average annual salary of $75,630.

That’s an opportunity worth sharing with your recent high school graduate.

Long-term growth projection looks good. By 2026 Comparitech expects an 11% increase in the number of needed network administrators in South Carolina.

They also predict that as a need for network administrators grows, so will their salaries. In 10 years the annual salary of network administrators in South Carolina is expected to increase by over 30%.

Maryland, Texas, and California beat out South Carolina for the top spots. All 3 have higher numbers of network administrators and higher job vacancies.

Of those top 4 only Texas had larger long-term growth than our state. Comparitech expects Texas to have 13% growth for network administrators by 2026.

Where are the worst places for administrators? Puerto Rico ranked 52nd with an average salary is $47,000.

Montana, ranked 51st, only has 600 administrators and only 120 job vacancies.

In Montana the number of positions is expected to drop 23% over the next 10 years. For the full report visit: www.comparitech.com/net-admin/us-network-administrator-salary-employmentstudy/ .
