Local authorities say a West Columbia man was arrested after he had something illicit delivered to his home.

According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, Nasiyr Shem James, 28, is accused of having drugs delivered to him to sell in Richland and Lexington counties.

Per a release, he was arrested after narcotics agents received a tip from a community member.

“They reached out to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration to conduct a controlled delivery of a previously scheduled package of drugs to James’ home in West Columbia,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted.

Agents obtained a search warrant for James’ home Jan. 31, after the package was delivered, according to the release.

“During their search of James’ home, agents found more than 2,000 fentanyl pills, a gun and ammunition,” Koon is quoted. “Agents seized more than $5,000 in cash from the home.”

Provided arrest warrants state that James was found in posession of more than 28 grams but less than 100 grams of cocaine, more than 10 grams and less than 28 grams of crack cocaine, more than 10 pounds but less than 100 pounds of marijuana that was packaged to sell, and a Glock 22  pistol.

James is charged with trafficking crack, trafficking cocaine, trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was transported to the Lexington County Detention Center following his arrest.

Per arrest warrants, the drug charges are considered violent crimes under state law, leading to the  weapons charge for possessing the gun when found with the drugs.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
