West Columbia has issued a request for proposals from skilled artists to provide mural art in a well-traveled alley.
The artist selected will be commissioned to create an outdoor mural in an alley that connects the city’s new interactive art park (now under construction) and the State Street parking lot.
The city is in the process of constructing an Enabling park for participants of all abilities on Hudson Street at the Gervais Street Bridge entrance to the Riverwalk.
The city thinks the area will draw visitors from all of the region. The river access will be enhanced by the mural and create retail and restaurant opportunities.”
The mural will be painted on two building walls that border the alley to make it inviting and welcoming.
To apply, visit https://westcolumbiasc.gov/ .
The completed artwork will become the property of the City of West Columbia.
