Tired of being laid off with limited income and remote learning for your children?

Welcome to the Covid Cantankerous Club with the rest of us.

You may be delighted to learn that a growing number of scientists, physicians and health experts prescribe a solution to this problem. They want to allow most of us to live normally while we protect the aging and vulnerable among us.

You won’t hear about this on CNN or MSNBC but the Great Barrington Declaration recommends just that.

Its authors are infectious-discease experts and their statement has been signed by more than 4,800 medical and health scientists and practitioners

They describe this approach as “Focused Protection.”

It’s essentially what Sweden did and the World Health Organization now recommends.

The collateral damage from government lockdowns “include lower childhood vaccination rates, worsening cardiovascular disease, fewer cancer screenings and deteriorating mental health.

This leads to future higher mortality rates among the working class and younger people.

Keeping students out of school is a grave injustice, the declaration says. “Keeping these measures until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.”

Reams of public-health data and medical literature agree.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that there have been 93,814 non-covid “excess deaths” this year, including 42,427 from heart conditions, 10,686 from diabetes and 3,646 from cancer.

Many are due to shutdowns of non-essential medical care.

Public-health surveys show depression, substance abuse and drug overdoses spiked amid rising unemployment. 25% of 18- to 24-year-olds increased substance to cope with covid.

Pediatricians report a rise in child abuse, injuries, stunted learning and emotional growth.
