Local man hit, killed in Gilbert

Kevin Jones, 46, of Lexington was killed May 2 while walking down Augusta Highway. Jones was walking in the 4600 block of Augusta Hwy. in Gilbert when he was struck by a motor vehicle, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, who was not injured, stopped at the scene to render aid.

W. Columbia man dies in crash

A West Columbia man died as a result of a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the 1800 block of Jessamine Road in Lexington Monday. Ronald Joseph Dasta, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher. Dasta’s vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck an embankment, which caused it to overturn and collide with a tree. Dasta was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred.
