When it has to be right

I recently took my car to get an oil change.

Afterward, I was sitting at a stoplight a mile away when my car died.

I had to call AAA and have it towed.

The next morning I received the news that the wrong oil filter had been put in my car.

All of the oil had drained out and totally seized up the engine.

The estimate for a remanufactured engine to be installed was $12,000.

The cost of the oil filter?

About $6.00.

The human error?

1.21348 is the correct filter, they used 1.21334.

The part was almost right, but not exactly right.

Like many things in life, close doesn’t count.

The perfection of our Holy God demands the perfection of our hearts if we are to dwell forever in His presence.

Even if you lived a 99% perfect life and committed only 1 sin, the perfection of Heaven would be gone if God allowed you to bring sin into that blessed place.

But that is why God sent us His Son to be our Savior.

His perfection can be applied to us on the day of judgment if we have asked for and received His forgiveness for our many sins.

The oil change company is replacing the engine and have been very good in their response to this situation.

The employee who made the mistake did not lose his job, for which I am grateful.

We have all made mistakes, and even committed willful transgressions.

But I am a firm believer that we learn from our mistakes.

An employee that has a good track record will usually be given a 2nd chance and will not make the same mistake twice.

As we make mistakes and break God’s laws, He will give us a 2nd chance if we are willing to give Him control of our lives.

When we learn from our sinful mistakes it is called spiritual growth.
