White Knoll, Dutch Fork lose in division finals of She Got Next Thanksgiving Classic

Lexington takes third in Southeast Division

Chronicle Country girls’ basketball teams White Knoll and Dutch Fork looked to claim division trophies at the She Got Next Thanksgiving Classic on Nov. 26.

Instead, both the host team Lady Timberwolves and Lady Silver Foxes were defeated in their respective finals.

White Knoll fell 65-35 to Trinity Christian School. Azaria Knox had 17 of her game-high 25 points in the first half in winning Northwest Division Most Valuable Player honors. Salees Kind had 15 points and Tatiana Williamson finished with 11 points for the Lady Eagles.

Syndi Anderson scored 13 points and Shaelyn Hayes and London Bell each had nine for White Knoll.

The next game saw Dutch Fork defeated 56-48 by Westwood in the North final. The Lady Silver Foxes trailed 27-23 at halftime and fell behind 34-27 before scoring eight unanswered points to take a 35-34 lead.

The Redhawks answered with a 13-0 run to take control of the game. Karletta Daniels led Westwood with 15 points, Jessica Woods and Makiah Thompson each had 13 points and Thanna Davis scored all eight of her points in the second half.

Hillary Offing had a game-high 18 points and Aaliyah Lee finished with seven for the Lady Silver Foxes.

Irmo and River Bluff also lost in their respective third-place games. The Lady Yellow Jackets were defeated 64-48 by Eau Claire in the Northeast division and River Bluff lost 59-42 to Marlboro County in the Southwest division.

The lone Chronicle Country team to win on Day Two of the tournament was fifth-ranked Lexington. The Lady Wildcats defeated Ridge View 49-38 to finish in third place of the Southeast Region.

Maggie Green scored 12 points and Lindsay Garner and Jenna Yanity each had nine points for Lexington.

The Southeast region was won by Northwood Academy, which defeated Greer 51-45.
