Why not travel for Thanksgiving?

Talking Points

When it comes to holidays, there are 2 types of people.

Those who eagerly await the high-energy hustle and bustle and those who dread it.

Turns out more than half of us are holiday grinches.

Personal finance website Wallethub found 53% of people celebrating Thanksgiving are dreading having to talk politics at the dinner table.

It also found:

• The average person will spend $313 over the 5 days of Thanksgiving.

• It will take 10.5 hours on a treadmill to burn off the 4,500 calories the average person consumes at Thanksgiving dinner.

• Americans spend over $552 million on 46 million turkeys each year.

• Residential fires account for $19 million in property loss each Thanksgiving.

Wanna escape the madness?

Consider traveling to one of Wallethub’s top cities.

They are ranked based on Thanksgiving celebrations and traditions, affordability, safety and accessibility, giving thanks, and weather forecast.

The study found St. Paul, MN, Scottsdale, AZ, and Virginia Beach, VA were the best places to travel for the holiday. Also on the list are Raleigh, NC, Miami, FL and Wichita, KS.

WalletHub apparently doesn’t know anything about Lexington County.
