Win Tickets to See Alabama Play Columbia

The American Legion Pelion Post 101 is having a raffle with the drawing on Jan. 1. The raffle features two lower level tickets (valued at $160) for the Alabama 50th Anniversary tour at Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena on Jan. 21. Tickets are $1 each (six for $5) and are available at Walker Hardware in Pelion or by contacting David Mills at 803-360-0572.

Breakfast with Santa was a success with kids and adults enjoying a visit with the jolly old elf and a breakfast of eggs, sausage, French toast, coffee, hot chocolate, and orange juice.

Convent Baptist Church will hold a Christmas Eve service on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m. Everyone is invited.

The Pelion Branch Library TeenScene will meet on Jan. 13 at 5 p.m., with a Chunky Finger Looping Hat Draft on deck. The Library will be closed Dec. 24-28 and Jan. 1.

Hard to believe a new year is almost here.

The annual social event at the Collings House was fun for all. The gospel singing group Soldiers entertained the crowd, as did Ronda Smith, an excellent accomplished pianist and soloist. Scavenger hunts, games and food were also among the festivities.

I recently went on a pleasant and entertaining trip to east Tennessee recently with my best friend Rhonda. We did some shopping and had great food. It was a good time and we enjoyed spending time together.

If you own any Beanie Babies you might want to take a close look at them. I noticed there are some worth lots of money. A few that are mentioned on the web include Hippity, Peace Bear, Valentino, Seaweed and Halo, all of which are selling for amounts in excess of $1,000. I wish I had collected Beanie Babies!
