March 11, 2020, I heard on the radio that the World Health Organization had declared covid-19 a worldwide pandemic.

I have remembered that day because it was my mother’s birthday.

At that time there were 118,000 cases of corona virus in over 110 countries.

Over 4,300 people had died—worldwide.

The US had 1,267 cases of covid-19.

38 Americans had died. Now that it has been a year, those early numbers are what we long for.

Over the past 12 months, there have been 115 million confirmed cases and 2.6 million deaths.

Lexington County has had 30,000 cases and 435 deaths.

The microscopic level of this powerful enemy is mind-blowing.

It has been estimated that all the corona viruses in the world put together could easily fit into a Coke can.

Thankfully, the vast majority of those who get covid-19 recover very well.

But after one year, many people know someone personally who died from this plague.

How has this year affected us?

Adversity and tragedy can be growth agents.

A wise person does not take good health for granted.

Many have learned how to eat healthier, build up their immune systems and be cautious.

A loving person looks out for the health of others.

Many have selflessly cared for others who contracted the virus.

A thankful person will find ways to express their thanks. Many have gone out of

Many have gone out of their way to thank doctors and nurses for the work they do.

Only once before in history has the entire planet been so affected by one invisible reason.

The plague that has claimed far more souls than covid-19 was created in the Garden of Eden.

Adam and Eve unleashed a virus called sin that is 100% fatal.

But there is a cure for those who will confess that they test positive for sin.

It’s called forgiveness, but it can only be administered by the Great Physician, Jesus Christ.
