Cayce announces new police chief

Herbert Blake has been named the Chief of the Cayce Police Department. Blake, a father of five, grandfather to six and married to his wife, Linda, for 37 years, has been working as a chief deputy in Asheville, N.C. Blake will formally accept the position on Sept. 30, 2024.

According to the press release, Blake served as the police chief of the Loris Police Department for seven years and he served as the police chief for the Hendersonville Police Department.

Blake is known for being a leader on the field and striving for excellence. He received a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a master’s degree in management. He additionally has received leadership trainings.

“We are excited about our incoming Chief,” Cayce Interim City Manager Jim Crosland said in a press release. “Chief Herbert Blake’s experience, and reputation as a leader in professional policing across North and South Carolina stood out to each of us that served on the selection committee. I look forward to him leading our police department and serving the citizens of Cayce.”
