3 new doctors join heart, vascular center

Jenna-Lyn Johnson, MD, Garrett Ruth, MD and Anil Purohit, MD, FACC, have joined Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center.

Dr. Johnson graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology, computer science and informatics from the College of Charleston and earned her medical degree from the Medical University of SC.

After completing her residency at Virginia Commonwealth University, she completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. Ruth graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Clemson University and earned his medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. After completing his residency at University of Florida Shands Hospital in Gainesville, he then completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology there.

Dr. Purohit grew up in Irmo, graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology from the SC Honors College and earned a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. After completing his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, he then completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease and cardiology there with particular focus in cardiac imaging. He went on to complete a fellowship in advanced heart failure and cardiac transplantation at Aurora-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

The doctors are accepting new patients at Lexington Medical Heart and Vascular Center, 2728 Sunset Blvd, Suite 400 in West Columbia.
