In their 61st year, the Town of Gilbert will host the Lexington County Peach Festival. It is recognized as one of the most successful and prestigious events of its kind in the southeast United States.
Summer after summer in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, the community was alive with the harvesting, packing, and shipping of peaches. Today, while we find few peach farms still in operation, the peach remains (in our minds) the Queen of all Fruits and worthy of honor in our small town.
This year’s festival will be held Thursday, July 4. Festivities kick off this year with the parade from 9:30 - 11 am and will stretch into the night when we bring the day to a close with a dazzling display of fireworks. We hope you plan to spend July 4th with us as you enjoy live entertainment, the peachy and patriotic parade, over 100 art & craft exhibits, an antique car show, a Revolutionary War re-enactment, tractor show, children’s rides and many food items specializing in “peachy” delights! A student Peach Art Contest held in May and the Peach Pageants scheduled for June are also held in conjunction with the Peach Festival.
