On the way to this Carolinas PGA Merchandise Show, I ran into Norman Flynn and Bobby Foster.
Norman Flynn was a founder of the Country Club of Lexington and retired there a number of years ago. Bobby Foster was my college golf coach for both the men’s and women’s teams in the early to late 1980s.
They were both on their way to attend legendary golf pro Bobby Howard‘s Hall of Fame induction.
“It was long overdue and Mr. Howard has done so much for golf”, says Biff Lathrop, Executive Director of the South Carolina Golf Association.
Mr. Howard was the head golf professional at Hidden Valley Golf Club for a number of years. Next week, I will write much more about his impact on local golf.
In other golf notes, Phil Mickelson’s victory in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am was quite impressive and inspiring. The 48-year old was dominant and won by three shots.
What other professional sport lends itself to such a story?
Next week, I will write about Bobby Howard’s local influence on golf so be sure to tune in.
