New SC CARES grants, the Minority & Small Business Relief Grant Program and the Non-profit Relief Grant Program, are accepting applications.

The Minority and Small Business Relief Grant Program will reimburse qualified recipients from $2,500 to $25,000. To qualify, minority and small businesses must employ 25 or fewer employees and be located in the state.

The Nonprofit Relief Grant Program will reimburse qualified recipients from $2,500 to $50,000. Non-profits must be 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations, be registered as a public charity with the SC Secretary of State, and be located in the state.

Riggs Partners of West Columbia is preparing for its 23rd year of Create-A-thon.

The 24-hour marketing marathon is designed to deliver professional marketing services to non-profits that could otherwise not afford them. Selected this year are The Animal Mission, Foothills Alliance, Lourie Center, Generations Group and Clemson Area African American Museum.

Who’s new

Drs. Simonne Francis and Jenna Walters have joined Midlands Orthopaedics & Neurosurgery. Dr. Francis handles interventional spine medicine and physiatry. Dr. Walters specializes in anesthesiology and pain medicine.

What’s new

• Tropical Grille is coming to 5449 Sunset Blvd. in the former Smashburger location.

Franchise owner Adam Akers said the restaurant specializes in healthy, fast-casual Cuban food. The grill will be managed by Kenny Gamble and is to open in December. More information at eattg.com .

• Showmars, a Southern-Greek restaurant will open next month at 5318 Sunset Blvd., Lexington. Owner Kostas Peroulas said his menu will include soups and salads, pita sandwiches, burgers, entrée platters, milkshakes and a range of desserts.

He plans to offer his own delivery service through his website.
