As far as we can piece together, my sister and I got more dolls Christmas 1954 than any other year.
We would turn 4 and 2 the next month.
My absolute favorite doll ever was the one at the top of the stairs. If I remember correctly, I called her “Baby Face,” which may have been on the box.
She started my imagination moving in many ways. What you can’t see is the little pom-pom knob on the top of her head. I could turn it and change her expression. I remember “smiley,” “cry baby” and “sleepy.”
I doubt this “launched” 2 of my 3 careers deep in the recesses of my mind, but it sure helped.
Hindsight is 20-20, and I wonder if it helped me as a therapist – combined with my spiritual philosophy– to know people could change their emotions.
As for my 3rd, my writing career, I believe it made me see possibilities if I let my imagination have free reign.
The writing career is so rewarding. Never underestimate what you can do, even if only for yourself or family.
I hope you enjoyed this little memory as much as I do remembering it.
