Beloved wife, mother killed in Lexington

There has been an outpouring of generosity for a Lexington wife and mother who was killed early Tuesday morning.

Dianne Sullivan Wells, 36, was struck by a vehicle and killed around 5:10 am Dec. 18. She leaves behind a husband, Joey, and 3 children: Eli, Maya, and Emma.

Wells was part of a fitness group called Females in Action. The group was training when she was killed in the crosswalk on Augusta Hwy. at Charter Road near Lexington High School.

A memorial fundraiser was established in Wells’ name at the crowdfunding website Give Send Go. In a period of about 44 hours, from Tuesday until Wednesday, more than $43,000 had been given to the fund.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Wells died at the scene from her injuries. The driver of the vehicle involved stopped to render aid.

Some of the donors included a message with their contributions to the memorial fund. Some comments included:

“Most children were cruel to me in elementary school but you were not. 3 decades later and I’ve not forgotten that. I’m so sorry for your family and this world’s loss.” – Anonymous Donor

“I struggle to even find the words, my friend, to see your world so suddenly shattered. I only hope you take the solace I can find, that the shining good that was so apparent in your life has called so many friends to be here for you. You’ll only need to reach out a hand to find so many clamoring to reach right back. We’re here for you.” – Christopher J. Bailly

“Digits, you are so incredibly loved and will be missed immensely! What a beautiful blessing you have been to so many. Love and prayers to Joey, Eli, Maya, and Emma in the days ahead. May God wrap them in his arms and they find comfort there. #loveyoumorethannachos” – Brandi Rhinehart
