Cayce needs election commissioners

The City of Cayce is looking for civic-minded residents interested in being involved in the election process to serve on the City’s Municipal Election Commission.

The Municipal Election Commissioners work Election Day to observe the voting process handled by Lexington County. Citizen involvement is essential to conduct open, accurate and fair elections.

If you are interested in filling one of the three open positions on this very important Commission, contact Mendy Corder at 550-9557, or email mcorder@caycesc.gov .

In late July, there was a first responders day at Lakeview Elementary in West Columbia. The event was for West Columbia children to learn more about the West Columbia Police Department, the West Columbia Fire Department and EMS.

Marcus Lattimore visited Sub Station II in Cayce last week and bought lunch for 10 lucky patrons. Sub Station issued a “thank you” to Lattimore for visiting.

There is historical magnitude in Cayce’s 12,000 Year History Park. A summer tour of the park was given on Aug. 4. And – mark your calendars – there is just one week left of the tours. The tour will include the site of Fort Congaree on Aug. 18. Stay tuned for a new fall schedule.

At the Columbia Metropolitan Airport in Cayce, representatives from Transitions Homeless Center brought in about 40 pieces of original art last week. The art is showcased beside the food court. This is the second year Transitions has been able to display current and past residents’ artwork in the airport to welcome travelers.
