Cayce transplant takes up council seat

The City of Cayce has a new councilwoman.

Ann Baily-Robinson moved to Cayce from Inman 21 years ago, and said she couldn’t be happier.

She told the Chronicle one thing that makes Cayce so special is the down-home family feeling that has made her comfortable going to City Hall and other officials with questions or to seek help.

Baily-Robinson comes to City Council after wearing many hats, mainly in the medical field, as a medical assistant, medical information specialist and privacy advocate.

Healthcare is her passion and she is currently in school for another certification.

In addition, she and her husband have an Ice cream truck called Faith T’s Cool Treats.

And as it that isn’t enough, she is a mom to 2 boys and a girl and has 3 grandchildren.

Sitting on a city foundation and running for city council came in ways she didn’t expect.

Attending a community event last fall at the Cayce Public Safety building, she met Joyce Coleman.

Baily-Robinson said that before she knew it, she was encouraged to serve on the Cayce Beautification Board in October.

In December, she became the secretary for the board.

But when she was asked to run for the District 3 seat, she felt way outside of her comfort zone.

That, however, did not dissuade her from the challenge, and she was elected in a special election last month.

One of her goals is to get better communication lines going with the diverse peoples of Cayce by breaking down social, language and cultural barriers.

She plans to learn another language and American Sign Language so that she is better equipped to understand the people of her district and their needs.

She is also passionate about supporting our military and veterans.

The councilwoman wants to spread the love she has received from the people of Cayce.

“Let’s keep the love going,” Baily-Robinson said.
