A Chapin man has been arrested on six charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor.
The state Attorney General’s office announced that Caleb Matthew Dawkins, 22, was arrested May 8, charged with six counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, punishable by up to 10 years in prison on each count.
Per a release, Dawkins is accused of distributing files of child sexual abuse material.
Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department made the arrest and were assisted by task force investigators with the Attorney General’s Office.
Dawkins was previously arrested in 2018 for breaking into multiple homes and watching people sleep, eventually pleading guilty to one count each of second degree burglary and being a “Peeping Tom.”
According to the Lexington County Detention Center website, Dawkins was taken to the jail following his May 8 arrest.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.
