Chronicle, Lexington Chamber to host Town Council candidate forum

Posted

The Lexington County Chronicle and the Advocacy Committee of the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center want town residents to vote — and vote informed — in next month’s special election.

That’s why we’ve partnered to hold a forum featuring the four candidates running in the May 2 election to replace former Lexington Town Council Member Steve Baker, who recently moved to Florida. The winner of the election will serve out the remainder of Baker’s current term, which runs through 2025.

Join us at the Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center at 311 West Main St. on Wednesday, April 19, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for the forum and hear from candidates Constance Flemming (a music teacher and former Lexington Town Council member), Edwin Gerace (a realtor and former town Planning Commission member), Matthew Graham (a contractor and business owner) and Gavin Smith (the owner of a public/government relations firm).

You can look for coverage of the forum at lexingtonchronicle.com and in the April 26 editions of the Chronicle and our free publication, The Wrapper.

The debate will be moderated by Chronicle Managing Editor Jordan Lawrence, with questions written by members of the paper and the Lexington Chamber. To suggest topics for conversation, email news@lexingtonchronicle.com.

Lexington residents can vote early ahead of the May election April 17-28 (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.) at the Lexington County Voter Registration and Elections Office at 605 West Main St.
