Lexington County emergency workers face a growing problem in access to new homes.
After 3 years and 10 months of discussion, County Council expects to vote Dec. 8 on requirements for developers to:
• Widen roads in new developments.
• Limit or eliminate on street parking that impedes ambulances, fire engines and law enforcement vehicles.
• Increase space between houses in case of fire.
• Provide additional parking in driveways.
With an increase in patio homes for older families, the council may approve:
• Drives built beside homes to garages or covered parking areas behind homes.
• Off-site parking areas for visitors
