Covid challeges hospital staff

The covid-19 virus continues to dominate the news. Hospitals are near capacity, mainly with unvaccinated patients. Everyone needs to get the shot.

To date, Lexington Medical Center has administered more than 90,000 covid-19 vaccines in our community. Lexington Medical Center is thankful for the support it has received.

OUR LEXINGTON Chamber of Commerce held its Monthly Breakfast Meeting Aug. 10.

After the welcome by President/CEO Angelle LaBorde, Pastor Jeremy Simmons of Radius Church gave an Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

John Aun of Eggs Up Grill provided breakfast sponsored by Gerber Collision & Glass. Gerber was founded more than 80 years ago by Phil Gerber in Chicago and has grown to be one of the largest auto collision and glass repair companies in the US. In SC they are the 2nd largest collision repair business. Southeast Market Manager Steve Baker spoke on their behalf.

Todd Augsburger, President/CEO of LMC, made a plea to get the vaccine. He told how their hospital staff was dealing with the influx of infected patients.

Chair Angela Klosterman asked board members to stand and be recognized. She presented a plaque to Chris Petty, Board Chair 2019-2020.

New board members are Alex Huggins of First Community Bank, Elie Lykes uf Palmetto Cafe & Defender Firearms & Training, Anthony Staley of the SEFA Group and Shirley Towne of BNI of the Midlands.

Angela presented new Chamber Chair Mike White with the gavel. He presented Angela an award for her leadership during our pandemic.

Mike named his leadership team: Chair-Elect Shawn Stinson of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Immediate Past Chair Angela Klosterman of First Citizens Bank, Treasurer Keith Dooley of Dooley & Company, Secretary Royce Shannon of Dominion Energy. Ambassador of the Month is Allison Hedricks of Bishop Real Estate Group.

ANNE BULL reports: Dot Turney turned l03 this week and still lives independently. Age is just a number.

THANK YOU to the Lexington Woman’s Club for 30 box fans for the Lexington Police Department’s “Operation Cool Down.” If you live in Lexington or know someone in Lexington in need of a fan, go to the Lexington Police Department and pick one up.
