Former SCANA CEO to be sentenced

A former SCANA CEO may be the 1st imprisoned in a $10 billion fraud.

Kevin Marsh, 65, will be sentenced Oct. 7 by federal Judge Mary Lewis on conspiracy fraud charges.

Investigators say that as CEO of the Lexington County-based utility now owned by Dominion Energy, Marsh covered up long delays, spiraling costs and ultimatly abandoned the 2 expensive Westinghouse reactors.

He pled guilty last February to defrauding investors and SC Electric & Gas ratepayers of millions of dollars.

He agreed to serve a 2-year prison sentence for lying to state regulators and federal agents about his role as a nuclear scheme conspirator.

Marsh could have been given 5 years in prison but agreed to cooperate with investigations into others involved in the SCANA scheme.

Marsh’s right hand man, former Irmo resident and COO Stephen Byrne, has pled guilty to similar charges.

Westinghouse executive Carl Churchman pled guilty to lying to an FBI agent about what he knew about the project.

A 2nd Westinghouse executive Jeffrey Benjamin is fighting multiple counts of fraud.
