Gaston man accused of trying to shoot and kill two at hotel

Posted

A Gaston man has been arrested after a hotel shooting.

Dyshawn Titus Hines, 40, is charged with criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and two counts of attempted murder.

The charges for Hines stem from a Feb. 20 shooting at a Country Inn and Suites, located at 414 Piney Grove Road,

“Detectives have determined Hines and three co-defendants tried to kill two people when they fired multiple shots into a car.”Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon is quoted in a release.

According to the arrest warrants Hines and the co-defendants approached the victims and instructed them to exit their vehicle, when the victims did not obey, Hines and the co-defendants opened fire on the vehicle. One victim was shot five times.

The incident report states that deputies arrived after being called to a shooting, with Lexington EMS already on site aiding the wounded victim.

Hines is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center following his May 12 arrest. Bond on the two counts of attempted murder was denied.

The release states that this is still an open and active investigation, with Koon saying the department expects more charges and arrests in this case and asking anyone with information to share tips using the Midlands Crimestoppers app.

This is a developing story and will continue to be updated.
