GILBERT—Harry A. West Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, after a long and courageous battle with multiple illnesses. His funeral was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Pond Branch United Methodist Church, Gilbert, SC, with burial in the church cemetery. The family received friends following the service in the church sanctuary.

He was born in Wheeling, WV, on August 16, 1944 son of Harry A. West, Sr. and Genevieve Parrill West. He was a graduate of Wheeling High School and earned a degree from the Insurance Institute of America.

Harry is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Taylor West; son, Brian C. (Rebecca) West; daughter, Melissa (Brian) Keisler; four grandchildren, Tyler (Maddie) and Jackson West, Kristen and Travis Keisler; brothers, John Aaron (Marlene) West of Edina, MN; and Robert (Arlene) West of San Marcos, CA.

Mr. West was a member of Pond Branch UMC, served on the Administrative Council and as its Chairman and Sunday school teacher. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and former member of Ponderosa Country Club. He served our country in the United States Air Force from 1965-1966 as a military policeman. He will be remembered for his wit, storytelling and speaking what was on his mind.
