Two lanes of I-20 westbound in Richland County have been closed after a dump truck overturned Friday morning. The incident occurred at exit 70-US 321-Columbia.

According to a civilian, the incident appeared to have occurred around 10 a.m. Based on the civilian’s photos, the truck was transporting mangled vehicles and parts of vehicles, many of them pressed together. The large debris fell into the roadway. Injuries have been reported, but the extent of the injuries is unknown. However, the civilian witnessed a police officer attempting to break the truck’s windshield to get the driver out of the vehicle.

SCDOT reported the lanes are still closed as of 12:40 p.m. Delays are to be expected. Avoid the area if possible.
