It’s time to be a proud American

As I drive through my neighborhood and other areas, it is gratifying to see all the American flags being prominently displayed at homes. There has been a notable increase in the last few months.

I believe now is a good time for more Americans to rally around our nation and reflect on the opportunities and freedoms we all enjoy. One way to do this is display our flag if you aren’t already doing it.

Our energy challenges

As a conservative, I believe diversifying our country’s energy sources is critical to our national security, long-term economic future and environmental conservation.

After a virtual meeting with Congressman Joe Wilson, I am reassured that our country will continue to innovate and pursue a true “all of the above” approach to energy.

Our conversation focused on clean energy industries, such as biomass, solar, wind and hydrogen fuel cells. Congressman Wilson spoke enthusiastically about these emerging resources, and he knows they have the potential to be big job creators in South Carolina. At the same time, he is dedicated to keeping energy costs affordable for businesses and families.

We also discussed the need for targeted support for the clean energy sector in the wake of the pandemic.

Like so many other businesses, clean energy industries have been hit hard. In fact, at least 8,100 clean energy jobs have been lost right here in the Palmetto State through the end of June.

Fortunately, Congressman Wilson indicated he is committed to investing in and providing incentives for clean energy.

Thank you, Congressman Wilson, for meeting with Conservatives for Clean Energy South Carolina and listening to our concerns. South Carolina had been making good progress on clean energy in recent years, and we are counting on you to help keep that momentum going.

Please urge your congressional colleagues to support clean energy this year.
