Lexington County teenager, missing for a month, found 3 hours after public asked for help

Posted

A Lexington County 15-year-old who had been missing for more than a month after he left his home without parental permission was found a little more than three hours after the county Sheriff’s Department asked the internet for help finding him.

Austin West had been missing since April 14 when the department posted to social media a little before 9 a.m. May 17 asking for anyone who had been in contact with him or knew where he might be to reach out to investigators.

The department announced that he had been found and was back with family members a little after 12:30 p.m.

Information about West’s condition when he was found was not provided. The department did not label him as a runaway.
