Gray Collegiate junior running back Trevon Williamson is in his first season with the team after transferring over from Gilbert.
Williamson got some run in at Gilbert but has since emerged as the lead back at Gray Collegiate. This season, he’s led the War Eagles in carries, rush yards and touchdowns.
Gray Collegiate opened region play last week with a lopsided victory against Midland Valley. Williamson was a force on the ground, rushing for over 200 yards and two touchdowns.
It was by far Williamson’s most productive game this season. The War Eagles force-fed him the ball as he took 41 carries in the win.
The War Eagles continue region play this week against defending conference champs North Augusta. Another huge outing from Williamson would help the team’s upset chances.
Lexington volleyball sophomore Rylee Nates is playing a much larger role in her second varsity season.
Nates has been one of the most consistent pieces of Lexington’s squad this year. The team entered this season looking to replace much of its offensive production, and Nates has fit in nicely.
In Lexington’s recent win over Irmo, she led the way with 14 kills. It was her third double-digit kill outing this season. So far, she leads the team.
The Wildcats are looking to defend their 2024 region title. The team began this week 1-1 with some big games ahead on its schedule. Nates will need to continue producing at a high level for the Wildcats to succeed.
