Lexington landmark closing after 71 years

Taylor’s Poultry place is closing its doors.

Luther Taylor told the Chronicle that after working there himself for 44 years, it was time for him to hang up his apron and retire.

Taylor said he, his wife Wanda and the whole Taylor family have made so many friends through the business that it was hard to say goodbye.

But he knew it was time to leave the business and spend more time with his family. Especially with his son.

He is also looking forward to more time for fishing off his dock on Lake Murray.

The business was started in 1950 by Luther’s parents, D.C. and Kathleen Taylor. The business at one time had 10-12 employees.
