Special to the Chronicle

A Lexington man is no longer employed by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department after being charged with third-degree domestic violence.

Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division arrested Timothy Lane Padgett, 29, for engaging in a physical altercation with his wife at the couple’s Wyoming Road home Sunday night, according to an arrest warrant.

Padgett’s wife suffered injuries to her arm and eye, the warrant said.

Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon terminated Padgett Monday morning for violating department policy.

Padgett was hired as a deputy sheriff Jan. 7, 2013.

Padgett remains in custody pending the results of a medical evaluation ordered by a judge who set a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

SLED will continue to lead the investigation, as is standard procedure.
