It was ring ceremony night for the University of South Carolina women’s basketball team at Colonial Life Arena on Nov. 7.
The defending national champions were presented their jewelry prior to the season-opener against East Tennessee State. Among the recipients were former Lexington All-State guard Olivia Thompson, one of six seniors on the team.
The top-ranked Gamecocks celebrated with a 101-31 victory over the Lady Pirates. Eleven of the 12 players on the roster scored as least one field goal in the contest led by Zia Cooke with 17 points and Aliyah Boston with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
South Carolina opens a four-game road trip Nov. 11 at No. 17 Maryland.
