Looking toward the future

I was honored this week to take my 3rd oath of office to serve as your sheriff.

Because of the current covid-related conditions, I did so in a small, private ceremony with family, friends and colleagues at the Sheriff’s Department.

The event provided me with a few moments to reflect on what an honor it is for me to have your support for another 4-year term. I’m also grateful for the support our community provides to all law enforcement professionals across Lexington County.

It’s been a blessing to see and experience that support during such an eventful 2020. Once again, a constant throughout the year was the faithful encouragement from you, members of our community.

That support was a comfort to me and all of us at the department as we have worked together to find our way through the pandemic. Our way of handling business has changed, but our commitment to make Lexington County a safer place remains strong.

This year, civil unrest impacted many neighborhoods. Lives were lost. Businesses and communities destroyed. Our country’s dynamic completely changed. But through it all, we remained confident in your backing.

We’re also proud of the countless ways you’ve helped us advance cases and solve crimes. Your willingness to share tips with us is one of the most important ways we can continue to work together in the years to come.

We look forward to serving and protecting you in the new year.
